Within the Help menu options there are several menu options that all user can access:

There are also 1 option that is unique to the System Administrator: mindSCOPE Updater

mindSCOPE Updater

You can update mindSCOPE in two ways. Firstly, mindSCOPE will automatically pop up an Updater box every Monday morning for only Admin users reminding you to check for any new versions. If there is a newer version than the one you are using, you can update at that time. If you are currently using the latest version, mindSCOPE will inform you that you are up to date. Secondly, you can update at any time by going to the Help menu and clicking on the "Check Internet Updater Site" option.

Note: Your PC must be connected to the Internet (e.g. phone line or LAN) to download the update.

1. From the Menu Bar click on Help.
2. Arrow down to Check Internet Updater Site and click on it.
3. To continue click on Next>>

.You have the option of saving your proxy server settings, if you use one. This should only be edited by someone who is familiar with proxy servers and networking (see the instructions in the yellow box below).

2. Arrow down to Check Internet Updater Site and click on it.

If there is a more recent version of mindSCOPE you will get a message similar to this one.

To use the proxy server you first need to click an in the "Use a proxy server for Internet Update" field. This will enable the "Proxy Server" text box field. Enter the path to the server in the text box and click OK to enable your settings.

4. Click on to continue.

Clicking on "Yes" connects your computer to the mindSCOPE ftp site and sends a compressed update file to your computer.

It is very important that every user has logged out of mindSCOPE before continuing the update at this point. If the update is performed before this is done, your database will be corrupted and errors will occur, including an error where users can no longer log into mindSCOPE. Once the above criteria are met, the update can be run but should only be run from the server.

5. When the download is complete click to continue.

mindSCOPE will then uncompress the update file

Once the field is uncompressed mindSCOPE will automatically start the Update Wizard.

6. Click on to continue.

mindSCOPE displays each new file it is adding or updating.

When the update is complete you will see this dialogue box. You can choose to view the release notes (which will pop up in Notepad), or simply exit. Either option will bring you back to mindSCOPE's login screen. Your system is ow updated with the latest changes.

Note: If you have enabled the "Auto Login" option, you will be taken directly into mindSCOPE.

Note: Once this is complete and the other users try to log into mindSCOPE, they will get a prompt telling them that they are using an incorrect version of mindSCOPE and will be prompted to update to your version.
