During your implementation you
were able to customize your skills by choosing your
own skills categories and skill sets for candidates.
Now you can configure the way these skills are set up
and accessed within mindSCOPE.
These are the administrative features
relating to skills:

Purge Expired Ghost Skills
When PARIS (mindSCOPE's resume management tool) scans
over the body of a resume, it looks for skills that
it recognizes as listed in the skill sets you've set
up and applies them under the proper categories. The
problem is that it does not think in terms of context;
it simply sees a word and applies it. For example, if
a candidate's resume says that he's a window washer,
PARIS sees the word "windows" and puts it
under the Software category. Ghost skills were created
to help combat this unavoidable problem. If PARIS pulls
in an "undesirable" skill, you can easily
delete it off the candidate's record by clicking on
the skill itself and choosing "Delete" from
the box that appears. If this change is saved, the skill
will now be applied to the candidate's Ghost Skills. This
means that the next time that candidate's resume is
scanned into mindSCOPE (e.g. you receive an updated
resume) the "ghost skill" will not be pulled
back on.
Purge Expired Ghosted Skills
will remove all ghost skills which are older than a
specified date. The expiry date is based on your settings.
For detailed instructions on how to purge expired ghost
skills, please refer to the .PDF version of the System
Administrators Guide [link].
Check ALL SKILLS Table Consistencies
This function will check the consistency
of all skills found in the Candidate, Client, and Job
Order tables. If mindSCOPE finds an inconsistency it
will repair it automatically.
1. From the Menu Bar click on Maintenance
2. Arrow down to Check ALL SKILLS Table Consistencies
and click on it.
Once you click on Check ALL SKILLS
Table Consistencies mindSCOPE pops up a warning:
To continue click on Yes mindSCOPE will then search
your database and verify the consistency of your files.
mindSCOPE's progress is displayed in the bottom left
corner.
When finished, mindSCOPE will inform
you of any inconsistencies that were found.
Preferences
The view preferences allow you to
control your system defaults, enable or disable certain
features, and customize the program. Each user can modify
certain settings on their copy of the software; the
system administrator, however, is able to make changes
which affect all computers using the system.
For detailed instructions on how to configure preferences,
please refer to the .PDF version of the System Administrators
Guide [link].
