User and Group Permissions

User and Group Permissions give you control of which users have access to what components and rights within mindSCOPE.

You can edit permissions for both users and groups in mindSCOPE's various modules. Permissions include viewing, updating and deleting data.

1. From the Menu Bar click on Admin.
2. Arrow down to Security, then over to User and Group Permission.
3. Click on it.

A User/Group Permissions screen will appear.

In the upper right under View are the User and Group fields with a radio button beside each. Both user and group permissions are controlled here. If you want to edit your user permissions then click on "Users;" if you want to edit groups click on "Groups." Within this screen you can edit existing users and groups but you cannot create new ones. To create a new group, go to User and Group Accounts.

User Permissions

1. Click on the user in the left window that you want to edit.

2. If you want the user to have the same permissions throughout mindSCOPE then select "All Modules and Functions" from the dropdown menu and click OK. If you want to set the permissions module by module then select from the module options and check off the appropriate permissions.

mindSCOPE will then tell you what permissions the user has. You can set a user's permissions
to be the same throughout mindSCOPE, or you can break down the permissions to be unique for
each module the user accesses.

Permission Results

Read Data: See all records/data in the module
Insert Data: Add records/data to the module
Update Data: Make changes in the modules' records and save them
Delete Data: Remove records/data from the database

For example, if the user is allowed to do everything in Candidate Notes except delete, check off "Read Data," "Insert Data," and "Update Data" but leave "Delete Data" unchecked.

3. Do this for each option in the dropdown list and click OK.

If you are editing an existing permission, mindSCOPE will tell you that you've changed the permission and ask you if you would like to "assign these permissions now."

4. Click on either Yes or No.
